Life Skill Clinics
Life Skill Clinics are held the third Saturday of each month. Community volunteers with expertise teach essential life skills to empower attendees to excel in life and recovery by mastering the core skills necessary for lifelong independence and self-sufficiency. Life Skill Clinics are open the public.
What are life skills?
Life skills are essential skills and/or knowledge needed to succeed in life, recovery, independence, and self-sufficiency. Life skills can also be referred to as adulting skills.
Life skills encompasses a broad range of topics including job search, housing, cooking, budgeting, credit management, but also includes soft skills such as interpersonal relationships, self-identity, and time management.
Our goal is for attendees to master the life skills necessary for long-term independence.
What are clinics?
Clinics are offered on the third Saturday of each month from 9 am to noon with an interactive group format that is ideal for learning. Each themed clinic has 3-5 speakers with expertise.
Who leads the clinics?
Clinic leaders are from the community with expertise in the subject matter. Clinic leaders are speaking about a specific topic, but are often invest in people – rather than merely teaching a class. We are grateful for clinic leaders that are share their knowledge with others, so that they can succeed in life and recovery.

2024 Clinic Schedule
Life Skill Clinics
We offer monthly clinics to help residents with life skills and guidance on key areas of concern. Possibilities include:
- Jobs – how to write a resume, get a job, and keep a job.
- Careers – Evaluate long-term career possibilities and then work with the recovery addict to create a path towards that long-term goal. Example: Working at a fast-food restaurant may pay the bills, but we would encourage them to find a career suitable for them. If they would like to become a nurse, we could show them how to get into CNA classes, get a job related to CNA work, and then look at nursing school as they become more stable.
- Parenting – how to raise children with Godly principles.
- Godly love / relationships – addressing past issues regarding domestic abuse / defective relationships, and then raising expectation for future relationships.
- Financial counseling – how to budget, pay bills, save for the future, etc. with Godly financial principles.
- Essential cooking skills - how to plan basic meals, shop for ingredients, and prepare meals.
